In FDT/DTM technology, there are three basic types of DTM files:
Device DTM works similarly to hardware drivers and runs within the FDT framework application.
Gateway DTM, used as a device driver, but also provides protocol and media conversion for industrial communication gateways.
Communication DTM provides communication channels for devices connected through nested communication networks (any protocol).
