AC induction motors have the same physical characteristics as PM brushless motors
3500/20 125768-01 stator, but its rotor structure is completely different. The squirrel-cage structure of the induction motor consists of a series of induction aluminum or copper bars placed in the rotor structure, connected to the end coil.
These short rotor bars have electromagnetic coupling induction with the rotating magnetic field of the stator, which generates a new rotor field and reacts with the stator field to form rotor motion.
In the synchronous stator and the slower stator field, there is a difference between the actual speed. This difference in speed is known as slip. The input frequency determines the speed of the motor.
For example, a 60 Hz, bipolar AC induction motor runs at nearly 3,600 rpm without load, and a quadrupole AC motor runs at less than 1,800 rpm, depending on the slip value. When the motor begins to torque, the slip increases and the speed decreases.
The 3500/20 125768-01 induction motor outputs more torque, and as the speed decreases until the load reaches the point of failure, the motor speed drops sharply to zero. An inherent performance characteristic of AC motors is that the starting torque is small and the load must be removed at the start of the motor.
