This 57C404C of redundancy is implemented at the bit level, where the register bits used in safety critical tasks are copied twice and output is generated based on majority voting logic. This is an example of a 2oo3 majority voting system, where if any of these three triggers fails, the remaining two triggers will mask the fault. Assuming it is difficult to simultaneously damage two of these three triggers, then this technique can keep the system running. Due to the fact that area compensation is double in this situation, it is necessary to thoroughly verify the design configuration positions, determine safety critical configuration information, and avoid any unnecessary area expenses.
Software diversity and redundancy


In software redundancy, the 57C404C will be executed multiple times in the software. Different software can be used to perform the task multiple times (different algorithms are used for the same task), and then the results can be compared, which will improve diagnostic coverage.
Two completely different software implementations are used in the design, that is, different algorithms are used in one processing unit to perform the same task. Figure 3 illustrates the implementation situation. The main channel is responsible for calculation, and if the calculation is incorrect, it may lead to danger. Redundant channels are responsible for verifying the 57C404C of the main channel, and taking action if faults are found. Redundant channels are designed and implemented using separate algorithms and code to provide software diversity. Once both channels are completed, compare the output data of these two redundant software implementations. If differences are found, a fault message is generated.
