Of course, advanced MCUs, such as ARM9 or above or DSP image processing chips, have fast processing speed, large memory, and some even come with camera interfaces, so FIFO is not necessary. Mainly because their prices are also high~
But it is not impossible to achieve acquisition at low speeds, and the method is also very simple. 9662-810 means reducing the output speed of CMOS. However, this requires external crystal oscillators, internal PLL circuits, as well as setting multiple registers such as pixel clock speed and frame rate, and matching them with the IO speed of MCU to achieve. But it is not recommended to do so because this register setting will bring more learning and understanding difficulties, and may cause the hardware image acquisition speed to drop to below 0.5 frames, while also bringing the possibility of image distortion.
Another method is to collect data using DMA, which has complex code and a speed of around 5-10 frames. (The blogger originally intended to use this method, but the foundation is poor and debugging is difficult. We will continue debugging~)
