The fixed load harmonic current and grid side harmonic current are Ilh and Ish, respectively. In the harmonic frequency series resonance state, the filtering branch exhibits a very low impedance to the harmonic current, which is usually significantly lower than the equivalent impedance of the grid to the harmonics. Therefore, most of the harmonic current will be diverted by the filter and no longer flow into the grid, making Ish significantly smaller than Ilh, thus achieving good filtering effect. The harmonic voltage in the power grid can also generate harmonic currents in passive filters, and this part of the current needs to be controlled at a lower level during filter design.

For power frequency fundamental voltage, a passive filter is equivalent to a capacitor that can compensate for the reactive power required by the load.

Usually, one tuning branch can only filter out harmonics of a single frequency. CC-PDIL01 51405040-175 requires multiple tuning branches to be used when filtering out multiple harmonics, tuning separately to different harmonic frequencies.
