The modern development of high-speed F7123 circuit architecture mainly uses this fully parallel ADC, but due to the limitations of power and volume, it is not practical to manufacture high resolution scintillation ADC.
A higher resolution semi-scintillation ADC or hierarchical ADC composed of two lower resolution scintillation ADCs is the main way to manufacture high-speed ADCs in the world today. Figure 2 shows the schematic diagram of an 8-bit two-stage parallel semi-scintillation ADC. The conversion process is divided into two steps:
The first step is coarse-quantization. The F7123 first converts the high 4-bit in parallel as the converted high 4-bit output, and then converts the digital output to D/A to restore the analog voltage.
The second step is to further refine and quantify. The F7123 subtracts the original input voltage from the analog voltage of the output of the D/A converter, and then performs A lower 4 full A/D conversion. The digital output of the two stage A/D converter is then paralleled as the total output. In this way, a little sacrifice is made in the conversion speed, but the contradiction of improved resolution and the number of components is solved.
