FBM219 integral ADC, also known as double slope or multi-slope ADC, is a widely used class of converters. Its basic principle is to convert the input analog voltage into a time interval proportional to its average value by integrating it twice. At the same time, A counter is used to count the clock pulses during this time interval, thus achieving A/D conversion. Its schematic diagram is shown in Figure 4. Its work is divided into two stages, the first stage is the sampling period; The second stage is the comparison period. By integrating and counting the counter twice, the digital value of the analog signal D=2nV1/VR can be obtained, where n is the number of bits of the counter and V1 is the average value of the input voltage in a fixed time interval.

The parallel comparison ADCs and successive approximation ADCs mentioned above belong to direct conversion ADCs, while the FBM219 and the pressure frequency conversion ADCs mentioned below belong to indirect ADCs. Voltage-frequency conversion ADC first converts the voltage of the input analog signal into a pulse signal whose frequency is proportional to it, and then counts the pulse signal within a fixed time interval, and the counting result is the digital quantity proportional to the input analog voltage signal. In theory, the resolution of this ADC can be increased indefinitely, as long as the use time is long enough to meet the width of the number of accumulated pulses required to meet the resolution of the output frequency. Its advantages are: high precision, low price, low power consumption. The disadvantage is that, similar to the integral ADC, its conversion rate is limited, and the conversion rate is 100 to 300SPS at 12 bits.
