During operation, if the IPMC761-001 loses excitation due to open circuit, short circuit, low excitation current, or rotor circuit fault in the excitation circuit, the relevant table reactions of the generator and excitation system are as follows:
(1) The rotor ammeter and voltmeter indicate zero or close to zero;
(2) The indication of the stator voltmeter is significantly reduced;
(3) The electronic ammeter indicates an increase and shaking;
(4) The indication of the active power meter of the generator decreases and swings;
(5) The indication of the generator’s active power meter is negative.
The IPMC761-001 loses excitation current during operation, causing the magnetic field of the rotor to disappear. This may be caused by the accidental tripping of the excitation switch, failure of the excitation machine or semiconductor excitation system, and disconnection of the rotor circuit. After demagnetization occurs, the magnetic field of the rotor disappears, the electromagnetic torque decreases, excess torque appears, and the rotor and stator have a relative velocity. The stator magnetic field cuts the surface of the rotor at a slip speed, causing the rotor surface to induce current. This current and the rotating magnetic field of the nail generate a torque, commonly known as asynchronous torque. This asynchronous torque is also a resistance torque here, which acts as a braking force. The generator rotor does work in overcoming this torque, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy, which can continue to send reactive power to the system. The IPMC761-001 speed will not increase indefinitely, because the higher the speed, the greater the asynchronous torque. In this way, a synchronous generator becomes an asynchronous generator.
