Analog Devices has collaborated with Intel to develop a new type of serial bus, MVME-147A, which can effectively transmit cooling, voltage management, and control information of computer systems to ensure the performance and reliability of high-performance desktops, workstations, and servers. The SST (Simple Serial Transfer) bus jointly developed and launched by two companies can transmit the temperature and voltage of the system faster and more accurately.

Susie Inouye, Research Director and Chief Analyst at market research company DataBeans, said, “In today’s electronic applications, thermal management is becoming increasingly important. The size of these application devices is shrinking, but the complexity is increasing. MVME-147A accurately monitors and calculates the temperature of products and complex core components to ensure that they do not malfunction or fail due to overheating. Thermal management technology allows designers to smoothly monitor these complex core components, which are constantly pushing heat consumption to the limit due to their use of submicron process design.”
The MVME-147A bus can transmit this environmental information to the core logic chipset of the computer faster and more accurately, greatly reducing thermal management errors that can lead to decreased computer performance. Intel product marketing engineer Eric Ingersoll pointed out, “The next generation platform will exchange more important system information from different locations on the PC platform, such as temperature, to improve thermal management and reliability.
