The R-TPD3 intelligent factory uses PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to monitor the working environment and control manufacturing automation. Its core is composed of microcontrollers running operating system code, while providing HMI (Human Machine Interface) to supervise the process. There are different communication methods from cable lines to wireless connections to monitor the harsh environmental parameters generated by sensors, such as temperature, humidity, and vibration signals, and then program the PLC to activate real-time actuators, such as switches, brakes, or motors. Due to the complexity and flexibility of its system, multiple hosts, nodes, and downstream functional units (such as tools, robots, or transportation lines) require robust, safe, and interference compatible voltage rails or power sources – from AC power inputs to various voltage regulators, whether isolated or non isolated.
Therefore, components applied in industry must have higher robustness, especially in the event of a short circuit in the R-TPD3 circuit, which can withstand overcurrent, a wider operating temperature range, and power efficiency.

In order to power R-TPD3 and various motor drivers or operating machines, the AC-DC power converters used must be scalable to several kilowatts. Therefore, PFC (Power Factor Correction) and LLC converters (or equivalent isolated soft switching topologies) are commonly used to achieve high PF (Power Factor) and low harmonics (THD Total Harmonic Distortion or THD+N) as well as higher power efficiency to comply with specific EMC regulations and power quality.
