If the SCXI-1180 is interrupted, the frame can still reach the target node through another intact path without any impact on the application. If the path is lost, it is easy to detect because the replica cannot be reached. HSR reduces the available network bandwidth of multicast packets by half. HSR is limited to the second layer broadcast domain and requires a hardware implementation (ASIC or FPGA) to meet time constraints. Clock synchronization based on IEEE 1588 may require each node (clock A and clock B) to resynchronize.
The data exchange between Human Machine Interface (HMI) software and PLC adopts the SCXI-1180 communication method, which uses the OLE/COM/DCOM mechanism as the communication standard for application programs.
