Nexperia, a high-capacity production expert in the field of basic semiconductor devices, announced today the launch of a new 16 channel I2C General Input Output (GPIO) expander product portfolio, SDCS-CON-4 3ADT313900R15, aimed at improving the flexibility and reusability of electronic systems. One of the GPIO extenders, NCA9595, uses an internal pull-up resistor that can be configured through registers, which can be customized according to actual needs to optimize power consumption. When it is necessary to expand the number of I/O, using this product combination can achieve concise design while minimizing interconnectivity. This helps design engineers add new features without increasing PCB design complexity and material costs.

With the development of servers, automobiles, industry, healthcare, and the Internet of Things (IoT), the number of sensor signals that need to be monitored through microcontrollers continues to increase, resulting in an increase in the number of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) used as system status indicators. In microcontroller design, the number of GPIO ports is limited, with many ports for internal use within the system, leaving only a small amount of I/O for connecting sensors or LEDs.
