In order to achieve fast switching time, the SPBRC410   of both resources are cached simultaneously in the OPC Server. The data from the Primary PLC is transmitted to the OPC Client, while the data from the Backup PLC is discarded. When the switch occurs, the OPC Server immediately switches to a backup resource based on the status information of the PLC, which also becomes the primary resource. The OPC client does not need to reconnect to the OPC data point, and the switching time only depends on the defined data update time and the amount of data currently used by the client.

With the gradual SPBRC410  of industrial Ethernet, there will be an increasing demand for redundant solutions based on industrial Ethernet. The redundancy scheme proposed in this article is based on the PROFINET communication network, which can achieve functions such as controller redundancy, I/O redundancy, network redundancy, and SCADA redundancy. Compared with traditional CPU redundancy or fieldbus redundancy systems, it has advantages such as advanced technology, flexible structure, simple configuration, and complete functions.
