The PowerPC TRICONEX 2000417processor includes an eTPU module with 64 channels, two engines, and a shared data and program memory. ETPU is used for independent vector control drive of two permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). The CPU program only sets the required torque for each motor. From a timing perspective, the following configuration seems to be the best. An eTPU engine is only responsible for processing signals from position sensors (orthogonal encoders) from two motors. It can achieve a processing capacity of 500000 pulses per second. Two motors (equipped with encoders, 1024 pulses per revolution) can operate simultaneously at a theoretical speed of 15000 rpm. Then, the backup engine is responsible for managing PWM signal generation and controlling the two motors. Its load is constant and independent of the motor speed. Under the condition of PWM frequency of 20kHz and control loop update of 20kHz, it bears 78% of the load.
