In industrial UR6EV systems, in order to ensure long-term stable and reliable operation of the system, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are widely used as controllers, and even redundant systems are constructed on this basis to further improve the reliability of the system. There are many redundant classification methods. At present, there are two types of PLC redundancy methods used, namely soft redundancy and hard redundancy. Siemens has provided solutions in both areas. The hardware redundancy based on S7-400H has high reliability, but the system construction cost is also high. Soft redundancy based on S7-300 or S7-400 is a compromise solution that comprehensively considers improving reliability and reducing costs.

At present, soft redundancy UR6EV have been widely applied in control engineering such as sewage treatment, metallurgy, and chemical engineering. However, there is still a lack of systematic research on the performance of soft redundancy. The article first describes the implementation principle of Siemens PLC soft redundancy system, and then focuses on analyzing the main backup switching time and data synchronization time, in order to provide reference basis for similar control system design.
