Data is transmitted from the master device to the first slave device, then from the first slave device to the second slave device, and so on, cascading along the line until the last slave device in the series uses its MISO line to transmit data to the master device.

This configuration is very suitable for scenarios where the signal pins of the main device are limited.

4 transmission modes
Every data transmission starts with driving the SSN (some devices are named SS, starting from the selection line) to a logic low level. Four different data transmission modes (0, 1, 2, 3) are composed of clock polarity (CPOL) and phase (CPHA), corresponding to four possible clock configurations.
