Communication DTM supports any new protocol, and IC693CPU350-BC has become a part of the hardware directory of the PLC programming platform. This method allows hiding the internal details of the protocol from the user interface. As long as DTM communication is supported, users can add any available devices already installed in the system. The FDT framework works like an abstraction layer, allowing the system to seamlessly access connected devices. Each device DTM can be accessed through the corresponding communication DTM.

When connecting to a remote I/O system or fieldbus, IC693CPU350-BC must install a gateway DTM below the communication DTM in the topology. This allows adding remote I/O modules or specific fieldbus devices to the corresponding gateway DTM by connecting them to the system. The main advantage is that all details of the fieldbus interface are hidden by the framework application, which users cannot see, and only serve as an abstraction layer for the fieldbus protocol connecting smart devices.

IC693CPU350-BC, a FDT compliant controller, can use this method to equip different gateways and communication DTMs for each required protocol.
