SR750-P5-G5-S5-LO-A20-R-T Threshold based segmentation method

1.1 Fixed threshold method – histogram bimodal method

This method is based on the bimodal phenomenon that appears on the image histogram. When an image has a bimodal phenomenon, its histogram will show two peaks, corresponding to two different color or brightness regions in the image. At this point, we can use the histogram bimodal method to automatically determine the appropriate threshold.

The basic idea of SR750-P5-G5-S5-LO-A20-R-T is as follows:

1. Calculate the grayscale histogram of the image.

2. Based on the positions of the two peaks in the histogram, calculate the threshold between the two peaks as the threshold for the image.

3. Binary the image based on the calculated threshold, dividing it into two parts: the target and the background.

Note: This method is only applicable to images with bimodal phenomenon. For images with unimodal or indistinct peaks, other threshold segmentation methods need to be used.
